The project is part of the plan to transfer the activities of the Pisan University Hospital from the ancient complex of S. Chiara to the new Polo di Cisanello. The main objective is the completion of the area, keeping the hospital and university functions closely integrated with the relative support services, according to simple and rational distribution schemes, inserting the new structures in the present environmental context, for mutual enhancement within an urban sector of the city of such significant importance.
The Cisanello complex fits into the life of the city as an organic system, capable of modifying and integrating into the urban fabric, a functional pole around which continuous flows of people gravitate including professionals, students, and patients, constituting a new and contemporary ambit of architectural quality and scientific innovation, a push towards the growth and future of the whole city.
